Chapter 17

Near Death By Smiley Tie Part 2 - Lewandowski

STANDING AT THE BAR in the Old Victoria Hotel, Hay Street, Subiaco, then known as Black Tom’s, I was wondering what the day would bring.

My minder, my self-titled driver Black Alex, had slept in, rung in and stated he needed my car that day for private business and would I mind catching the bus. Problem was he hung up before I said yes, I do! Thus I had indeed caught the bus and walked two miles, hence the need for a nice green tea.

I remember thinking maybe not such a good day, but once again I was wearing the sunny, slightly stretched smiley tie which I still believed livened and lifted everyone’s day.

Three film star types had commented on it during my recently completed brisk two mile walk.

How wrong one can be!
