Chapter 13

More Near Misses For Colin ‘Circles’ Pace

In which Frank Scott exposes the required qualities for successful promotion by the police elite to membership of The Fifth Estate.

NO NEW POLICE RECRUIT JOINS the Police Force with a view to making vast sums of money by being corrupt. He joins the Force because he feels he can offer the community that special quality that is required of all police officers. Each has to be seen as having a strong personality without being arrogant; a physical stature which will enable us to control a violent situation without being seen as a bully; possessing common sense and intelligence without being tagged as an intellectual wimp; and in general we need to assess any situation and be able to make quick decisions correctly.

It is these qualities which all new recruits feel they have which will make them efficient officers.

Somewhere down the track these ideals in some officers disappear because, believe me, corruption in WA equals, if not surpasses, the events we have all read about in other Australian states, not the least being Queensland.
