I dedicate this book, such as it is, to five generations of real coppers. I especially highlight the fifth member, as awesome wartime warrior at too early an age and who shot D.H. Stewart, an infamous and deadly miscreant from the East who was holding the State to ransom. He was my father, Inspector John Stephen Mclernon, WA Police.
I also include in this dedication, Joshua, John, Kaitlin, Tracey, Wendy, Jedd, Oliver, Austin, Hunter and Ayla Mclernon, all bright, strong and beautiful people.
A great number of people have assisted me in this project and most, wisely retain their anonymity. However I do make my thanks to ‘Senseye’, a scribbler and hack of old school who corrected grammar, made suggestions and poured many a cup of green tea to keep me at the keyboard.
