Big Bold Brass Balls

THE ORIGINAL TITLE FOR THIS CHAPTER WAS ‘BRASS WEAR PLATES’. “Boring!” you may well say but after taking pen to paper to record the story I re-badged the title to best describe the Detective in Search of Tithing.

Ring…Ring…Ring…went the phone.

I am ensconced in my favourite bar in the Rockingham Hotel along with my mate. We had just returned from a Collie Run buying scrap metal. Through the window we could see our truck overloaded with copper tanks, brass, aluminium and other commodities of value. Prices were up and our smiles were bright. The sea breeze came straight in from the ocean. The day was hot and the beer cold.
